On June 5, the signing event of Jiangsu Highstar Power Supply Co., Ltd.'s 6GWh sodium-ion and lithium-ion battery and system production base project was successfully held in Fushan Industrial Park. The project is located in Doumen Fushan Industrial Park, covering an area of 129 acres, with a planned total investment of about RMB 1 billion, to build a new 6GWh sodium-ion and lithium-ion battery and system production base, and will build a production base integrating research, production and sales of sodium-ion batteries in Doumen District. After all the construction is completed, the annual output value is expected to be 4 billion yuan, the annual tax payment is expected to be 100 million yuan, and it is expected to provide jobs for at least 1,000 people.

Chen Gang, general manager of Highstar, said in his speech that Highstar has been specializing in the R&D and production of secondary batteries for nearly 30 years, and as one of the earliest enterprises in China to realize the industrialization of lithium battery technology, it has a complete R&D and manufacturing capacity of new energy batteries in the field of power and energy storage batteries, and is a mainstream lithium-ion battery manufacturer, ranking among the top three domestic enterprises in the global power tool market. Since August 2022, Pulit has reorganized Highstar Company, completed the industrial layout of new energy, quickly cut into high-quality industries such as energy storage and small power batteries, gathered the three advantages of "capital, assets and resources", and formed an industrial pattern of "new materials + new energy" two-wheel drive, which is of great strategic significance and major industrial synergy for many parties. This project aims at the technology leadership and innovation of sodium-ion batteries, and will be built into the first sodium-ion energy storage battery industrialization project in Zhuhai.

At present, the industrialization of sodium-ion batteries is accelerating, and the future market space is broad. Sodium-ion batteries have the advantages of abundant resources, low cost, better rate performance, low temperature resistance and high temperature resistance, and are completely free from the restrictions of resources and regions, which can perfectly solve the problem of resource "stuck neck", and can be well used in large-scale energy storage frequency modulation and new energy vehicles.
